I was wandering through the streets of East Village in NYC this weekend just looking for somewhere fun to stop when a sign caught my eye. The Cure Thrift Shop. What a cute shop…full of great finds. And ALL of the proceeds benefit the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation. I enjoyed meeting the owners, Liz and Marty Wolff and hearing the story behind the shop. Liz was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 14 years ago and decided to combine her passion for “stuff” with her personal mission to dedicate her life to finding a cure for diabetes. Since opening last summer, The Cure Thrift Shop has already donated $200,000 to help find a cure for Diabetes. Wow! The shop was featured on a news segment on NY1 last week.
